TMC Plugins – Emergency Fix

TMC Plugins General Update Notes

  • Fixed an issue on Mac where a UTF-8 error appeared and the plugins did not work on After Effects 2025 and earlier.

TMC Plugins – Emergency Fix

TMC Plugins General Update Notes

  • Fixed parameters showing nothing, or crashing, in languages other than English.
Since After Effects 26.2, the character encoding that third-party plugins use has changed. In TMC plugins and in a number of other third-party plugins, this left parameter names blank or caused a crash when they were displayed in Korean, Japanese or Chinese.
This update matches the new encoding, so parameters display correctly on 26.2 and later.
*There is no effect if you work in English, or if you are on a version earlier than 26.2.

TMC Plugins – Major Update (New Features, Bug Fixes, Improvements)

TMC Toolbox Update Notes (v1.1.0)

  • NEWRigid Layer: Applies a physics simulation to the selected layers. Works on 2D layers only. Set the physical properties of each object, run the simulation, then apply it to bake the result into keyframes.
  • NEWBETAText Decompose (Shape): Text can now be split not only per character but also per stroke, with an animation added to each stroke automatically. Stroke splitting follows the stroke order rules of each language, based on your language settings.
Click: Splits each character into its own Shape Layer, as before.
Ctrl + Click: Splits each stroke into its own Shape Layer.
Ctrl + Shift + Click: Splits each stroke into its own Shape Layer and applies a stroke-drawing animation.
*This feature is in beta and not yet complete. We will keep improving it.
  • NEWBETAImport Master: Select a folder to import all of its resources with the folder structure intact. PSD/AI files are imported in an editable form, and if you enter the frame rate you want, every image sequence is imported at that same frame rate.
*This feature is in beta and not yet complete. We will keep improving it.
  • NEWFolder Setting: Creates your preset folder structure in the project, so you no longer have to build folders one by one before starting work.
Click: Set up folders using your structure
Ctrl + Click: Edit the folder structure
  • NEWBETALayer Replace: When a selected PSD/AI file has been modified (same file structure, with only the shape of certain layers changed), replaces it in place. This is a beta feature and is not yet complete.
  • Preview Screenshot: Remembers the folder where you last saved an image and opens that location first the next time you save.
  • Wave Bone: Fixed an issue where 'Wave Delay(sec)' was not applied correctly.
  • Swing Physics: Fixed an issue where physics driven by Rotation would kick in the opposite direction of motion.
  • TMC Toolbox (Memo): Fixed an issue, caused by the previous Mac patch, where Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V did not work in the Memo panel.

TMC Plugins General Update Notes

  • Plugin parameter names now follow your After Effects language setting.
English is the default, with Korean, Japanese and Chinese supported depending on your AE language.
  • Optimized overall GPU memory usage and addressed some performance issues that could occur.

TMC ColorGrading Update Notes

  • Fixed an issue where 'Edit Look' occasionally showed a previously cached preview.

TMC Stroke, Color Overlay, Shadow Update Notes

  • In the Gradient Editor of TMC Stroke, Color Overlay, Shadow and more, 'Cycle Repetitions' repeats the gradient, and 'Phase Shift' lets you animate that repetition.

TMC 3DStroke Update Notes

  • Fixed an issue where Texture Mapping applied to the Stroke was also applied to Particles.
  • Fixed an issue where 'Trim Path' was applied after 'Taper'.

TMC Particle Update Notes

  • When Emitter Type is 'Layer', particles are now generated naturally following the layer's Mask animation and Feather.
  • Fixed an issue where Emitter Type 'Layer' did not work on Shape Layers or Text Layers.

TMC Plugins – New Features, Bug Fixes & Improvements

TMC Toolbox Update Notes (v1.0.4)

  • NEWShape Merge: Run with two or more Shape Layers selected to merge them into a single layer.
  • NEWShape Separate: When a Shape Layer contains two or more shapes, splits each shape into its own Shape Layer.
  • NEWVector to Path: Converts Illustrator (.ai) and SVG (.svg) files into editable Shape Layers. SVG conversion requires After Effects 2026.0 or later.
  • Text Decompose (Layer/Shape): Fixed an issue where expressions on the text layer were lost.
  • Add Null, Camera & Null, Add Adjustment, Fit Solid Layer: Layers created by these tools now use the label color you set in your 'Label' preferences.
  • Change Bit Depth: Now displays 'bpc' instead of 'bit'.
  • TMC Toolbox - Settings: Fixed the 'Change Bit Depth' icon not displaying correctly in the 'Hide' tab.
  • TMC Toolbox (all panels): Fixed Cmd + C / Cmd + V not working on Mac depending on the active keyboard input source.

TMC Plugins Update Notes

  • Fixed an issue where some TMC plugins did not work correctly in 32bpc.
  • Fixed a "max_result_rect" error in Stroke, Shadow, Blur, Extrude, LightRays, and Glow when the layer had no pixels to draw.

TMC Hub, TMC Particle, TMC Glitch, TMC Paper – Features & Bug Fixes

TMC Hub Update Notes (v1.1.4)

  • A Privacy Policy for TMC Plugins has been added. You must agree to it to use TMC Hub.
  • When an install or update is blocked, a notification now appears immediately on any screen.
  • The manual install guide now shows the list of prepared plugins and their versions.

TMC Particle Update Notes (v1.0.4)

  • You can now draw the over life graph freehand with the Pen tool.
  • Fixed an issue where particles would jitter or jump when Emitter Position was keyframed.
  • Fixed an issue where the emission position trembled slightly when following a fast-moving layer with Emitter Type = Layer (Fit To Layer).

TMC Paper Update Notes (v1.1.2)

  • Fixed scattered white pixels appearing when using a large layer as the Paper Layer texture.
  • Fixed a band about one Radius wide appearing duplicated near the rolled edge when Roll curled more than a full turn.

TMC Glitch Update Notes (v1.1.2)

  • Fixed colors in the preview not matching the final render when working with the preview resolution set to Half/Third/Quarter while using Scanlines, Pixelate, or Signal.

TMC Particle, TMC ColorGrading – Bug Fixes

TMC Particle Update Notes (v1.0.4)

  • Fixed an issue where Emitter Position moved the entire existing particle cloud (like World Transform) instead of changing where new particles are emitted.

TMC ColorGrading Update Notes

  • Fixed an issue where the preview would not appear in Edit Look and Browse Look on some systems.

TMC Hub – Bug Fix

TMC Hub Update Notes (v1.1.2)

  • Fixed an issue where the license authentication data could become corrupted if a Hub update failed unexpectedly and the computer was force-restarted, making license activation impossible. The Hub now repairs itself automatically if this data is damaged.

TMC Hub, TMC Toolbox, TMC ColorGrading – Features and Bug Fixes

TMC Hub Update Notes (v1.1.1)

  • macOS: closing the app no longer leaves it sitting in the Dock. (It keeps running in the background.)

TMC Toolbox Update Notes

  • Add Null : Ctrl (Cmd) + click now creates a Null at the exact center of the composition and parents the selected layers to it.
  • Toolbox Motion: graph shapes can now be applied as Overshoot as well.

TMC ColorGrading Update Notes

  • macOS: fixed a color difference between what Edit Look displayed and the actual preview.
  • Fixed the 'RGB Parade' scope colors breaking when the UI scale was changed in the Edit Look window.
  • Fixed changes occasionally not being reflected when you added a layer and reopened Edit Look.
We have also added a 'Refresh' button at the top of the window, so you can update the current preview yourself if a change does not come through for any reason.

TMC Plugins & Hub – Intel Mac (x86) support test and fixes

TMC Hub Update Summary (v1.1.0)

  • TMC Hub now runs on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.
  • All TMC plugins now work on Intel Macs (x86) as well.
This has not been fully verified yet, so please keep that in mind while using it.
If you run into any problem, please report it to us by email.
  • On macOS, the installer volume created during an update or installation is renamed from "TMC Hub" to "TMC Hub Installer" to avoid confusion.
  • On macOS, TMC Hub now quits properly before being replaced during an update.
  • Improved server connection stability through TMC Hub.

TMC Toolbox Update Summary

  • Parallax now works on a single layer, and a plain click now applies the Parallax effect only.
If you want the layers pushed along the Z axis automatically as before, Ctrl + click lets you customise that.
    Click: applies Parallax.
Ctrl + click: opens a settings window that arranges the layers along the Z axis for you.

TMC ColorGrading Update Summary

  • The "Browse Look" window is now sized to fit your monitor.

TMC 3DStroke Update Summary

  • Fixed a problem where, with Trim End at 0%, the stroke would suddenly disappear the moment Trim Start reached exactly 0% or 100%.

TMC Particle Update Summary

  • Fixed a problem where particles did not take the shape of the image when Emitter was set to 'Layer'.

TMC Hub, TMC Toolbox – Bug fixes

TMC Hub Changes (v1.0.12)

  • Fixed an issue where the installer hid the window.
  • When a plugin update or installation fails, the Hub now guides you through installing it manually.

TMC Toolbox Changes

  • Fixed an issue where Remove Unused Footage did not work.

TMC Toolbox (Memo) – Bug Fixes

TMC Toolbox (Memo) Changelog

  • Fixed an issue where pasting into the Memo panel with 'Command + V' did not work on macOS.
Other functions that were not working, such as Cut, have also been fixed.

TMC Particle – Bug Fixes

TMC Particle update changes (v1.0.2 build 16)

  • Fixed an issue where keyframing Emit Per Sec caused particles to behave incorrectly.
When Emit Per Sec was reduced with keyframes, particles that had already been emitted disappeared regardless of their Life, and the remaining particles were pulled back toward the emitter. This has been resolved by correcting how each particle's birth time is calculated.
  • Fixed an issue where Direction X/Y/Z behaved like a left/right flip rather than a direction control.
Even a small change in value flipped the direction abruptly, and moving the slider barely changed the angle. Direction Angle (0 to 360°) and Direction Tilt have been added for specifying the direction by angle, and are now the default input method.
The existing Direction X/Y/Z can still be used by setting Direction Input to Vector (Legacy), and saved values are preserved.
  • Fixed an issue where Rotation X/Y/Z under World Transform had no effect.
Position X/Y/Z worked correctly, but changing Rotation X/Y/Z was not reflected on screen. Rotation is now applied to the entire particle system, and deformers, force fields and the bounce floor rotate along with it.
    World Position behavior is unchanged.
  • Fixed an issue where the value of a keyframed parameter was not displayed immediately in the Effect Controls panel.

TMC Plugins – After Effects 2024 Support Test

Previously, TMC Plugins did not support After Effects 25.1 or earlier.
The exact cause remained unidentified for some time, but it has recently been found, and we are now releasing patched update builds that support 2024 through 2026.
In theory there should be no problems, but we have not verified that real-world use is 100% issue free, so please keep this in mind.

Update Summary

  • All TMC Plugins now work on After Effects 2024 and later.
However, as this has not been fully verified, please keep that in mind while using them.
If you run into any issues during use, please report them by email.

TMC Hub – Emergency Fix

Thank you so much to everyone who has shown interest in and purchased the plugins.
Server status is very stable, and it should handle the current load without issues for the foreseeable future.
Additionally, there were cases where repeated activation attempts were flagged as "suspicious activity," triggering the rate limit and locking users out. This meant some of you were unable to activate despite having purchased, and had to wait 6 hours before trying again. This has now been fixed.

TMC Hub Update Notes (v1.0.10)

  • Improved the system that treated 10 failed activation attempts as "abnormal behaviour". Ordinary activation failures no longer result in a ban.
  • Fixed an issue where error messages were shown only in Korean.
  • Added support for connecting through proxy and VPN environments.

TMC Plugins & Hub – Bug Fixes

Ahead of the final release, we reviewed the feedback recently received from our customers and fixed the issues with the greatest impact.

TMC Hub Changes (v1.0.7)

  • Update failures are now reported so their cause can be identified by the administrator
  • Whenever a new Hub or plugin update is released, it can now be seen as a notice on the 'Licence' tab
  • Added a notice recommending an update when After Effects 25.4 or earlier is detected.
  • Improved the reliability of plugin updates

TMC Plugins Changes

  • TMC 3DStroke: The texture now holds on its last frame even when the Texture layer is shorter, and a button has been added to keep Particles from being affected by Physics.
  • TMC Glow: Fixed the aliasing that appeared when the layer had semi-transparent or soft edges, caused by those edge pixels being boosted.
  • TMC Particle: Fixed video Particle Textures not playing their frames correctly, and fixed the camera not being applied when the timecodes of the layer and the composition were out of step. The same problem was found in every plugin that uses the camera, such as 3DStroke and Glass, and has been fixed in all of them.
  • TMC ColorGrading: Improved the stability of the 'Edit Look' window.

TMC Paper, Toolbox, 3DStroke, Particle – New Features & Bug Fixes

TMC Paper update notes (v1.1.1)

  • Added a Shadow feature. Paper layers now cast shadows onto each other and onto the floor, following the Floor and the World Light direction.

TMC Toolbox update notes (v1.0.3)

  • New Change Bit Depth button (System & Project): each click cycles the project color depth 8 → 16 → 32 bpc, and the button shows the current depth as a number.
  • New Parallax button (Rigging & Setup): converts the selected layers to 3D and lays them out in depth around a reference layer. Live position/scale expressions keep every layer's on-screen size and position exactly as they were, no matter how far you push it in Z. Depth only shows when the camera moves, and it survives field-of-view changes.
Click: settings window (reference layer, Z step, background gap, shuffle depth order)
Apply Apply again: re-roll the depths
Ctrl + click: restore the original layers
  • Memo panel - Improved file organization: Folders can now be nested inside folders, and dragging a file to move it is now visualized.
  • Memo panel - Improved web page access: Fixed an issue where some web pages were being rejected, so most web pages can now be opened.
  • Memo panel - Per-text size adjustment: You can now set a different size for each piece of text you select.

TMC 3DStroke update notes (v1.0.2)

  • Pen / Draw modes: create paths directly in the comp view, no mask needed. Pen works like the AE pen tool: click for a point, drag for handles, click the first point to close. Draw lets you sketch freehand; points are placed where the line bends and straight runs stay straight.
  • Shift + drag = depth (Z): grab a point with Shift and drag up or down to push it away from or toward the camera. Its on-screen position stays put.
  • Move / Rotation gizmos: select a point to get X/Y/Z axis arrows or rotation rings. Rotation round-trips with Null controllers (Create Nulls carries it over, turning a Null updates the path), Shift snaps to 10° steps, and the current angles are displayed.
  • The Import button is now Import Mask. It appends to a non-empty path list instead of replacing it, and no longer creates Nulls automatically; use Create Nulls for that.
  • Fixed the overlay path and the rendered stroke drifting apart when a 3D camera is used.

TMC Particle (v1.0.2) Changelog

  • Fixed an issue where the emission position offset of particles shown in the preview was inaccurate
  • The Path Motion category is now collapsed by default
  • Fixed an issue where applying a video (composition or file) as a particle texture caused the playback start timing to be off, with only a few frames rendering instead of playing back properly on the particles.
  • Added a Back Face option to Paper, allowing you to assign the back side separately. Note that it is applied uniformly to all particles.
